I was thinking about my oldest son last night and how it can take a while in life to figure out how to change your life. It reminded me of being younger, before I knew that you normally have to persevere before any significant change occurs.
Have you ever wondered where the strength will come from to persevere? I certainly have. Some time ago I ran across Therese J. Borchard of Beyond Blue, who does an amazing job of talking openly about depression and sharing her experiences with fellow travelers.
She has a post of quotes on perseverance today. It’s a great list of wisdom to meditate on at the beginning of a day.
Here are some samples that I particularly liked:
“Saints are sinners who kept on going.” –Robert Louis Stevenson
“If we are facing in the right direction, all we have to do is keep on walking.” –Buddhist Saying
“The greatest test of courage on earth is to bear defeat without losing heart.” –Robert G. Ingersoll, Poet
“We can do anything we want if we stick to it long enough.” –Helen Keller
“Fall seven times, stand up eight.” –Japanese Proverb”
