There are a lot of cliches I could whip out here but I’ll try to control myself. Gimmicks and sex are always popular in pop culture and especially advertising (sex sells) and we seem to be witnessing some different perspectives on what’s acceptable these days with major brands.
And we have ASSvertising brought to us by the likes of NightAgency. NightAgency did not put this specific campaign together – but we just have to ask did KODAK use ASSvertising? Really?
Not long ago I saw the outdoor ad below of what I would say is a creative and cheeky billboard in New Zealand that I thought was quite well done. But judge for yourself…One HUGE difference is that the creative was related to the product being pitched. No, not just sex! The ad was for a company in NZ called bustop that sells lingerie. Bravo! You’ll note that this picture is just as revealing as the Kodak ASSvertising model but perhaps less scandalous because of the creative execution. To me the Kodak ad is just relying on shock value like a bad pulsating pop-up ad. Once again quality and effectiveness in advertising is about creative execution – not just gimmicks. What’s your take?
I almost forgot. NightAgency appears to be an equal opportunity ASSvertiser Agency, at least when it comes to the models they hire as we see in this photo.
